Parent Directed (Traditional) home schooling now Available

Traditional homeschooling

Parent directed or traditional home schooling is when parents choose to develop their own program at home for their child.  They do not necessarily follow the Alberta Program of Studies and often choose from different educational philosophies when choosing what to teach.  Parents who choose this route often spend a lot of time developing their child's programming and have the best interests of their child at home.  Often the relationship between parent and child is developed deeply through this experience.

The newest offering of HPSD is to offer parents a chance to homeschool their children with support from a certified facilitator.  The facilitator will meet with you as often as you wish (although at least twice a year) and will assist in organizing a homeschool support network.  Resources for  homeschool (following the Alberta Program of Studies) will be provided if one wishes and field trips and other activities, designed to keep students connected, will be offered throughout the year.

Students who are registered with the HPSD will be able to access the following supports:

-a facilitator that helps you along your home education journey.

-programming, field trips and extra curricular activities at your local school.

-educational field trips and networking social events with other home education families.

-access to materials and teachers if you wish to enhance your home education program for your children.

-access to school psychologist, speech pathologists and other support for children experiencing challenges.

We look forward to working with you!
